Salem Piecemakers

Gather the pieces that are left over.
Let nothing be wasted.
(John 6:12)

Purpose of the group:
Our ministry is to share peace and healing by making quilts for the homeless men, women, and children in our community, supporting Buffalo City Mission, Cornerstone Manor and additional groups in need.

Meeting Days:  Monday (2 times a month – see Monthly Meetings)

Time:  12-noon for lunch

Place:   Downstairs Social Room

Leader:  Deann Sheppard

Accomplishments:

The Salem Piecemakers made 46 little dressed for the girl’s orphanages in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. This is just one part of our ongoing outreach program. The dresses were on display in the church for Rally Day in September 2016.

The project was spearheaded by Judy Drezek, and each one of the quilters fine-tuned her skills to complete at least two little dresses. All of the dresses were made with donated fabric. We thank Leslie Fuller and Sandy Mulvaney for hanging them in the church.

It was like a factory, the day we worked on the dresses. In spite of the 90 degree temperature, downstairs, the sewing machines were humming!  We were extremely pleased with the finished dresses for the little children!

Goals:

  • To continue our quilt ministry in the community, wherever it make take us.

  • To continue the Quilts of Valor Project, providing quilts for service members in our community.
